Our first production, Mr Apple, is a heartfelt short film about love, loss, and the quiet power of connection.

Told through the eyes of 10-year-old Genie, the story begins with an ending—her mother’s passing. Before she goes, Genie’s mum gives her the final apple from a family tree that has stood for generations. With a friendly face drawn on, Mr Apple becomes more than just fruit—he becomes comfort, memory, and a symbol of hope.

Filmed over seven days in Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, the project brought together local talent and community, and premiered in Cineworld to an emotional audience response—many moved to tears.

Mr Apple marks the beginning of Soulscreen’s journey: a small story with a big heart, and a message that stays with you—that those we’ve lost are never really gone, and that life, somehow, always carries on.
